Lori is survived by her loving husband, Ricky Van Matre and her two precious children, Paige Ellen Van Matre and Bryce David Van Matre. She is the cherished daughter of David Hoffman and Judy Fletcher Hoffman of Abita Springs, Louisiana, as well as her two loving and supportive brothers, David Paul Hoffman, his wife, Debbie and daughter, Ashley; and Jeffrey Hoffman, who were always there for her during her times of trial. She is the niece of the late Ethel Fletcher Heckel and her favorite uncle, William "Bill" Heckel. Lori is the granddaughter of the late Ellen Fletcher and Arthur Fletcher of Steubenville, Ohio; and Mary Hoffman and the late David G. Hoffman of McKeesport, PA. Lori has always been a special part of the Van Matre family and will always be remembered for her thoughtfulness, compassion, and caring ways, especially the brave way that she has faced her medical crises. She is the "daughter-in-love" of Peggy Hickey Van Matre of New Orleans, Alan Reese and the late Richard W. Van Matre. She is the sister-in-law of Dana Gibson and Scott Van Matre (Erin). She will always be the cherished aunt of three children who will dearly miss their Aunt Lori, Chase Gibson, Brooke Gibson and Aiden Van Matre, as well as the loving niece of Lurlyn Hennessey and Patsy Perkins, and Ashley Dubret and Shane Perkins. Lori will forever be remembered for her unspoken determination to have her children and husband live their life to the fullest and not let anything deprive them of their happy memories. Lori's friends will always remember how she accepted what life had dealt her and, in spite of this, was always there for them when anyone needed her. Lori's family and friends have witnessed her brave and tireless struggles during these past ten years and we now understand the "true meaning" of the word "courageous." In lieu of flowers please send your donations to St. Tammany Cancer A Memorial Mass will be said 11:00 AM Thursday February 10, 2011 at the Catholic Church of St. Monica, with Father Jack Durkin serving as Celebrant. The family will receive friends Wednesday 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM with a prayer service at 8:30 PM at Bill Head Funeral Home Duluth Chapel. ===================
