He was retired U.S. Army, who served in Korea and Vietnam. He is also a member of the American Legion Post 73, Picayune Miss., and VFW in Pearl River. He is survived by his wife Shirley Singletary Ellis; seven children, Terri Ellis, Scott Holden, Kathy Friedrich, Charlotte Marie Greer, Kim Meaux, Kerry Ellis, and Kenneth Ellis and four sisters, Rosemary Ellis Hebbler, Kitty Frierson, Faith Jones, Linda Ellis Davis. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Kyle Ellis, Benny Holifield, Raedawn Holden, Hannah Greer, and Dale and Ashley Mazurek. He was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Olgie Ellis and three brothers, Richard "Dickie", Tommy' amd Larry Ellis and sister Myra Jenkins. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today from the chapel of D.T. Williams Funeral Home, 67525 Hwy. 41, Pearl River. Visitation, at the funeral home is from 11 a.m. until service time. Interment to follow at Charter Oak Cemetery, Pearl River. ===================
