Daniel was a longtime resident of Lacombe and Mandeville, LA. Beloved husband of Winnie Sticker Haydel. Father of Cynthia Haydel Melton (Tom), Linda Haydel Buser (Steve), Mary Ann Haydel Vargo (Von), Karen Haydel Newman, Daniel J. Haydel, Jr. (Lisa Meiners), and the late Baby Girl Haydel. Foster parent through Catholic Charities to: Quang Tran (Nga). Son of the late Corrine L. and Charles A. Haydel. Brother of Therese Haydel Martin and the late Earl, Elmore and Whitney Haydel. Also survived by 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, expecting one great grandchild in April, and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by one great grandchild, Infant Buser. Daniel retired from Southeast Louisiana Hospital after many years of service; he also worked as the bookkeeper for Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. He served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and was a member of the Homer Williams Chapter #8720 Veterans of Foreign War. He was the recipient of The St. Louis Award, given by Archbishop Philip Hannan. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 312 Lafitte Street, Mandeville, LA 70448 on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 12:30 pm. Visitation will be held in the Chapel of Bagnell & Son Funeral Home, 75212 Lee Road, Covington, LA 70435 on Wednesday evening, from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Interment will follow the Mass in St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery, Covington, LA. The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the wonderful staff of Odyssey Hospice, especially Jeff and Audrey. ===================
