He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth Ann Smith of Texas City, Texas, for 53 years. He was the father and father-in-law of Kent Satterlee III and Ann Lewis Satterlee, Cindy Satterlee Harlan and Dr. Michael Harlan, John Satterlee and Mary Salatich Satterlee, Stephen Satterlee and Anne Smith Satterlee, Mary Satterlee Andreeff and Dane Andreeff, Allison Satterlee Gough and Scott Satterlee. He was also the proud grandfather of Sarah, Blake and Ben Satterlee, Brittany, Kate and John Harlan, Ethan, Blakely and Alec Satterlee, Jane and Stephen Satterlee, Katherine Ann and Louise Andreeff, Elizabeth and Hannah Gough and Jacob and Rachel Satterlee. A native of New Orleans, Kent Satterlee graduated from St. Matthias Elementary School in 1943, and Jesuit High School in 1948. While at Jesuit, he was in the Honor Society, a Blue Jay cheerleader, and a thespian. At the age of 16, he began Loyola University in the accelerated program where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in business and three semesters of law school. In October 1952, he was called to begin military service as a United States Army lieutenant at the 4th Army Headquarters in San Antonio, Texas. He was then assigned to the military police in Trieste, Italy, where he was a member of the peacekeeping task force. Upon his return, he earned his Juris Doctorate, graduating first in his class from Loyola Law School in 1956. In 1957, he and Ann were married. Together, they have seven children and 17 grandchildren. Mr. Satterlee was an attorney in good standing with both the American and Louisiana Bar Associations. He was a founding partner of Satterlee, Mestayer and Freeman Law Firm, where his main focus was real estate and succession law. He was a closing attorney for Fifth District Homestead for many years as well as the lead attorney in the development and construction of Poydras Plaza and the Hyatt Hotel in New Orleans. He was involved in several real estate development projects including residential subdivisions, commercial shopping centers, and professional office buildings. He was preceded in death by his parents Kent St. Elmo Satterlee and Olga Helen Macheca Satterlee, and his two brothers, George Robert and Robert Joseph Satterlee. He was a man who loved the law, loved his family and above all, loved the Lord. He will be greatly missed. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at 2 p.m. tomorrow in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Metairie. Visitation will begin at noon until service time. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery.
