WHALEN

John E. "Johnny" Whalen, Sr. passed away on St. Patrick's Day, Thursday, March 
17, 2011. 

He was the son of the late John W. Whalen, Jr. and Irma Bernard Whalen; brother 
of the late Patty Whalen; beloved father of Courtenay E. Whalen, John E. Whalen, 
Jr. (Kimberly Knatzer Whalen); beloved grandfather of Camille Whalen and Tess 
Knatzer; husband of the late Carolyn Connolly Whalen and stepfather of Robert S. 
Wolf and Ashley Wolf. Johnny was a graduate of Redemptorist High School and 
Southeastern Louisiana University. 

He worked as a marine surveyor. He was an avid sportsman, a sports car racer, a 
proud member of the NRA, and a fisherman extraordinaire. Johnny loved his family 
and friends, and was loved by all of them. He will be greatly missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial Mass at 11 a.m. 
tomorrow at St. Rita of Cascia Catholic Church, 7118 Jefferson Highway, Harahan. 
Visitation is from 10:30 a.m. until Mass time. 

A gathering will be held at Smilie's Restaurant after the service. Arrangements 
by Bagnell & Son Funeral Home of Covington.
