McGaha, of Pearl River, LA, passed peacefully into eternal life on May 6, 2011. A native of New Orleans, LA, she was born August 8, 1927. She is the beloved wife of E. L. "Mac" McGaha. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo E. Murray and Mildred Potier Murray and her former husband, Milton E. Nunez Sr. She is survived by her loving children; Mary Ellen Stroud and her husband, John Stroud, Milton "Gene" Nunez and his wife Carra Nunez, Joe Nunez of Maumelle, Arkansas, Gene Swann and Mary Reyes, Gary Nunez and his wife Phyllis Nunez, Dennis McGaha and his wife Susan McGaha of Purcellville, Virginia; her grandchildren; Johnny Stroud, Dana Garlick and her husband, Robbie Garlick, Heather Beeckman and her husband John Beeckman of Houston, TX, Natalie Nunez Barcelona and her husband Robbie Barcelona, Kenta Paretti and her husband, Shawn Paretti, Kevin Swann and his wife, Susan Swann, Gary Nunez and his wife, Bobbie Nunez, Cassie McGaha, Dustin McGaha, Edwin Litolff and his wife Laura Litolff; and 18 great grandchildren. She attended Slidell High School and Tulane University, and went on to become a certified public accountant. She was employed by the CPA firm of Bourgeois, Bennet, Thokey, and Hickey and served as the Executive Director of the Louisiana State Board of Certified Public Accountants from 1978-1996. She became the first female President of the Society of Certified Public Accountants; New Orleans Chapter and in 2006 was honored with the Life Membership Award of the Louisiana Society of Certified Public Accountants. She was a long time member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Pearl River, LA. In 2007 she was the recipient of the Order of St. Louis Medallion in recognition of her contributions of time and talent to the church. She was a member of the Slidell Womens' Civic Club, the Guardians of Slidell History, the Slidell Garden Club, the Slidell High School over 50 Club and numerous other civic organizations. She was a founding member, and reigned as Queen of the Krewe of Perseus. In 1998 she was selected as Queen Samaritan XLIV of the Krewe of Slidellians in recognition of her public service. She deeply loved her family, community, and enjoyed life to the fullest. Relatives and friends are invited to attend evening visitation, Monday, May 9th, from 5:00 - 9:00 P.M, at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. W, Slidell, LA 70460. The Funeral Mass will take place, Tuesday, May 10th, at 11:00 a.m., at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 66192 St. Mary Dr., Pearl River, LA 70452. Visitation at the church will begin at 9:00am. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Joseph Hospice, 1400 Gause Blvd., Slidell, La. 70458. ===================
