A native of New Orleans, LA, a former resident of St. Bernard Parish and St. Tammany Parish, and a resident of Kentwood, LA for the past 13 years. Beloved wife of the late August Joseph Venturella, Jr. Loving mother of Julie V. King, Stephen A. Venturella husband of Doreene, August J. Venturella, III. husband of Theresa, ReneŽ V. Nunez wife of the late Terry, Joanne V. Morere wife of David, and the late Michael August Venturella. Daughter of the late Lorraine Brabham Weigand and Felix F. Weigand. Sister of Mary Ann Weigand Wedge and the late Catherine Weigand Olavarietta. Proud grandmother of 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by 3 grandchildren. Joann was a part of the last "all girl" graduating class of John McDonough High School in 1952 in New Orleans, LA. According to an article that appeared in the Wednesday, August 4, 1971 edition of the St. Bernard News, Joann ran the Rebel Park Boosters' athletic program and was the only woman officer of the Rebel Park Board of Directors. She coached the 1969-1970 Rebel Park girls to the parish championship. She was an avid bowler and ladies cabbage ball player. She was involved in the Daughters' of Eve and Juno Carnival Krewes. She was very much involved in genealogical research of her and her husband's families' history. Joann loved to captivate her audience with great story telling. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Markia Gilbert for her love, friendship and compassion. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service in the Chapel of Bagnell & Son Funeral Home, 75212 Lee Road, Covington, LA on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at 12:00 pm. Visitation from 10:00 am until service time. Interment will follow in Barker McManus Cemetery. ===================
