She was born June 30, 1941 in New Orleans. Vera graduated from McDonough 35 High School, as well as Straight Business School and attended Xavier University. She lived the majority of her life in South Louisiana, but retired with her husband to West Monroe, where she resided at the time of her death. Her most meaningful professional work was her over ten years as a paraprofessional for special needs children in the St. Tammany Parish School System. She was passionate about her family, friends and enjoying life. Vera was known for her love of cooking and enjoyed sharing that with her loved ones. Vera is survived by her devoted husband of 41 years, Autry Jewel Britton; two daughters, Nicole Gaillard (Chip) and Michelle Britton and her grandchildren, Chaz and Landry Gaillard; siblings Goldma Preston and Waldo White (Mildred); several nieces and nephews and a host of very close friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents Waldo J. White and Vera Landry White. The family is thankful for care given by the emergency room staff and critical care team of St. Francis Hospital, and Tanya Turner, Vera's dialysis nurse. No service will be held, per her request. ===================
