Beloved husband and best friend of Ardell Krueger Lakey for 55 years; loving father of his three daughters, Cindy L. Darce' (David), Denise L. Currault (Jack) and Linda K. Rhea (Rick); grandfather of Christine A. Darce', Lee Currault (Kim), Danny Currault, Robert Rhea (Lexi) and Jennifer Rhea; one great- granddaughter, Caroline Grace Currault, and one step great-granddaughter, Lexi Houghtaling. He is also survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Carroll and Irene Bussell, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two sisters and his grandson, Craig A. Darce'. Born in Hubbell, NE on January 30, 1935 to James Chester Lakey and Della Deaver Lakey. After marrying Ardell in Holyoke, CO, they moved to Farmington, NM where they started their family. He worked in the oil field industry and was transferred to southeast Louisiana in 1965, lived in Colleyville, TX from 1981-1988, and has been a resident of Mandeville, LA since 1989. He was employed for several years by Milchem and then Newpark Resources, which allowed him to do worldwide traveling. He was a kind, caring, and gentle man who dearly loved his family. He and his wife enjoyed traveling in their motorhome and he was especially proud that they had been to all 50 states, as well as other places in the world. He loved wood working, his daily brisk walk in the neighborhood, and taking care of his beautiful lawn and garden. He will be greatly missed by his beloved poodle, Muffin. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 312 Lafitte St. Mandeville, LA 70448. Visiting hours at the Church will begin Thursday at 10:00 AM. Interment at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Covington will immediately follow mass. In lieu of flowers, masses preferred or donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 110 Veterans Boulevard, Suite 160, Metairie, LA 70005, (504- 830-2300). ===================
