A native of Rowley, Iowa. and a former resident of New York and Mississippi before settling in Slidell. He served as a staff sargent in the U. S. Army on many of the Pacific islands during World War II. He was a machinist for NASA and then Domino Sugar Refinery, until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the Slidell Freemason Lodge for many years both before and after retirement, attaining the designation of past master. He is the husband of Edna Byrnes Pilcher and by the first marriage to the late June Meyer Pilcher; brother of Robert Pilcher, the late Harold, James, Theodore and Jesse Pilcher Jr.; father of Janice P. Jackson (husband, Dan deceased), Kenneth G. Pilcher Jr. (wife Diana), David L. Pilcher (wife JoAnn), Marvin A. Pilcher (wife Laura), June J. Pilcher, and Jane P. Nicoloff (husband Ted). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. His was cremated and interred at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Slidell. Memorials to the American Lung Association are preferred.
