James "Sonny" Walker passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2011.

Beloved husband of Cheryl Rupp Walker. Loving father of Jerel Hubert Walker, 
Janel Walker Martin and Jacklyn Walker Lau. Son of the late Bernadine and Dewey 
Walker. Brother of the late Gertrude Walker Mayeaux.

He was a native of Kiln, MS, a longtime resident of New Orleans and then of 
Covington after Katrina. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. 
Sonny was a member of and became Business Manager for Glassworkers Union Local 
#936. He was elected trustee of both the local and state Building & Construction 
Trades Councils, serving on numerous committees and working as a negotiator over 
the course of many years. He served as Contract Compliance Officer for 20 years 
at Pension Services, Inc.

Relatives and friends are invited to Mr. Walker's celebration of life at E.J. 
Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, 
June 25, 2011 at 11:00 AM with a gathering on Saturday from 9:00 AM until 
service time.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Mr. Walker be 
made to Canon Hospice.
