She was only 16 years old. After a nine year valiant struggle with brain cancer, she lost her battle. Catherine had just completed her freshman year at St. Scholastica Academy. She was a member of the swim team, the Junior Honor Society, the Key Club, SADD and Animal Appreciation Club. During the summer, she was a counselor at Camp Old Hickory. In 2008, Catherine received the Principal's Award at Tchefuncte Middle School for being the hardest working student, in spite of adversity. Catherine loved animals of all kinds, especially her beloved Brittany spaniel, Freckles. Catherine was diagnosed with brain cancer at the age of seven. She spent a year of her life at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital battling the disease. She never complained about the challenges she faced. Not once did one ever hear her say, "Why me?" She lived life to the fullest and appreciated every day God gave her. Catherine's courage will serve as a reminder to all of us of how our lives should be lived. Her spirituality and both inward and outward beauty, were evident to any one who met her. Beloved daughter of Catherine "Missy" Michelle Farnsworth Gensler and Dr. Lawrence "Larry" Lee Gensler; loving sister of Christopher "Chris" Gensler and William "Will" Gensler; and granddaughter of Mary Louise Auler Farnsworth, Alice Marie Kellogg Gensler and William F. Gensler. She is also survived by a multitude of aunts, uncles and cousins, all of whom adored her and will greatly miss her. Catherine is preceded in death by her grandfather, Harold Pratt Farnsworth. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 1501 West Causeway Approach, Mandeville, LA 70471 on Friday, July 22, 2011 at 11:30 AM. A Wake will be on Thursday, July 21, 2011 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433. Visitation on Friday will resume AT THE CHURCH at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 332 North Lauderdale Street, Memphis, TN 38105-2794. ===================
