EDNA WEIXEL GRISTINA, age 93, a former resident of Eden Isles, Slidell, LA, 
passed away on Friday, July 8, 2011, in Diamondhead, Mississippi. Beloved Wife 
of over 62 years to the late Nicholas Gristina;

Mother of Carmen Gristina Ferro (husband, the late Gerald), Sylvia Gristina 
Sigur (husband Gus), and Nicholas Vincent Gristina (wife Brenda); Daughter of 
the late Richard C. and Leocadie Weixel;

Sister of Norma Weixel Glynn, and the late Richard C. Weixel; Grandmother of 
Gretchen Couvillion Chauvin, Burton A. Couvillion Jr., Gregory N. Couvillion, 
Jill Sigur Guastella, Mark S. Sigur, David B. Sigur, Nicholas C. Gristina, Scott 
M. Gristina, and Jason P. Gristina;

Also survived by 14 great-grandchildren.

It was always her desire to surround herself with her children and family. She 
will be remembered for her good cooking, love and motherly nurturing. Edna loved 
football and witnessed pigs flying, hell freezing over, and the Saints winning 
the Super Bowl. 

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at 11:00am, at 
HONAKER FUNERAL HOME, 1751 GAUSE BLVD WEST, in Slidell. Friends may visit at the 
funeral home on Tuesday beginning at 10:00am. 
Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. 

The family would like to express their appreciation to the nurses and staff of 
Woodland Village Nursing Home, and Hammond Nursing Home.
