Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/sttammany/obits/dateobits/2011/st1107.htm and click to view list of photos. ========== BARBARA WINKLEBLACK SHORES (CURRY), age 85, died on July 11, 2011, at Lacombe Nursing Center from complications due to Alzheimer's disease. Born May 14, 1926, and preceded in death by her parents, Gladys and Muriel Winkleblack, husband, Donald Shores, sister, Jean Doty, and grandson, Ryan Livingston. Survived by her five children, Toni Kothe (John), Pat Curry (Janice), Larry Curry (Debbi), Teri Livingston (Tim), and Tammy Curry, 11 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. Barbara was born and raised in Charleston, IL where she attended Eastern Illinois University. She moved to Slidell, LA in 1963 and worked as a secretary at Salmen High School. She was a member of First Christian Church for 40 years, having served as Elder, Deacon, choir and CWF member. Barbara was an avid animal lover and lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, who will be missed by all. The family would like to thank the staff at Lacombe Nursing Center and St. Joseph's Hospice. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to pay respects on Monday, July 18, 2011 from 6:00pm until 7:00pm with memorial services at 7:00pm at First Christian Church, 102 Christian Lane (Robert Blvd.), Slidell, LA. Burial was held privately in Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to fight Alzheimer's disease (www.alz.org) or Cerebral Palsy (www.cerebralpalsy.org).
