She is survived by longtime friend, Jerry Doga; her son, William Allen Brown, and his wife Mary; son Steven LaFord Brewer and his wife Cheryl; her grandchildren Sean, Skyler, Jason, Courtney, Joshua and Lukas as well as her sisters, Bobbie Cutrer and Johnnie Verrette, Elizabeth Encardes, Shirley Roach, Irene Bray and brothers Perry Roach and Michael Roach, and countless other family and friends. She was preceded in death by brother James L. (JL) Eads and Frances Joffrion. Laura was born in 1933 and grew up in Carbon Hill, Ala., before moving to Slidell. After graduation from Slidell High School in 1951, she enlisted with the U.S. Navy-WAVES. At that time she was the youngest woman to ever join the WAVES. Her last assignment was the Corpus Christi, Texas Airbase. There she met and married her first husband, David Brown. A year later while stationed at Jacksonville, Florida Naval Base, she had her first son Bill. A little over a year later, she had her first daughter, Donna in St. Louis, Mo. After her divorce in 1959, she moved with her two children from Oak Hall, Va., to south Louisiana to be near her family and start over. After securing employment at the New Orleans Country Club and a second job at a dress shop, she met her second husband ŇLouÓ. Shortly after, she had their son Steven born in New Orleans. After the hurricane in 1967, the family relocated to Houston in 1968, where her last child Dee was born. In 1985 she lost her husband to cancer. Later life found her in the company of Jerry Doga and they both traveled this great land, as she called it, together. Her final years found her living back in Texas among her children and their families. Laura loved her God, her country and her family and lived her life accordingly. She was kind, courageous and didnŐt back down from what she believed in. She never missed an opportunity to participate in her childrenŐs and grandchildrenŐs lives. If she did miss an event, she couldnŐt wait to hear all about it, especially if it involved sports! Laura loved and knew more about sports than just about anyone. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Roll Tide!! A memorial graveside service will be held at noon tomorrow at the Forest Lawn Cemetery, 1751 Gause Blvd. West, Slidell. A reception will follow at the First Presbyterian Church, 1041 Ninth St., Slidell, Arrangements by Honaker Funeral Home, Inc., Slidell. ===================
