LUCILE BACKES HUDSON, age 67 years, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 
9, 2011. 

She was born in San Diego, CA, spent her early years in Mobile, AL and New 
Orleans, La., and was a longtime resident of Slidell.

She was a past Officer of the Hudson Family Association, member of the Slidell 
Computer Club, an artist, seamstress, sailor and avid genealogist. She was 
preceded in death by her parents, Wistar Pancoast Backes and Lucile Marie 
Bodet, her husband, Thomas Jean Hudson and her son, Steven Glenn Hudson.

She is survived by her daughter, Lydia Hudson Byrd and three grandchildren, 
Sarah Jean Hudson, Madison Nicole Byrd and Adrian Talmadge Byrd. She is also 
survived by her siblings, Frank M. Backes,III of Gulfport, MS, Philip W. Backes 
of Covington, La., and L. Angela B. Naquin (Wayne) of Mandeville, La. and by 
her aunt, uncles, cousins, niece and nephews. The family would like to express 
appreciation to her caretakers, Chirstine OÕReilly and Cindy Mendow and the 
staff of St. Tammany Hospice.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Services 
at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME, 1751 GAUSE Blvd. WEST (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), 
Slidell, LA on Friday, August 12, 2011 at 7:00 P.M. Visitation on Friday after 
5:00 P.M. until funeral time

Interment will be on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 12:00 oÕclock noon 
in Pine Crest Cemetery, 1939 Dauphin Island Parkway, Mobile, AL .
