Steven Wayne ̉ CoachÓ Jones passed away Aug. 4, 2011, at the age of 58. 

He was born Aug. 22, 1953 in New Orleans to Joan Roberts Jones and the late 
Buford H. Jones. 

He is survived by his son Steven Wayne Jones II; his granddaughter Maci 
Elizabeth Jones; mother Joan Roberts Jones; sisters Kim J. Beaulieu and Lulu J. 
Norman, Buford R. Jones, Bert M. Jones and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his father Buford Hugh Jones and his brother Bert 
Alan Jones. 

Steven served honorably in the Vietnam War as a member of the U.S. Marine 
Corps. He coached sports for over two decades for parks and schools. During the 
holiday season, he would play the part of Santa Claus. He was loved and will be 
missed.

The funeral Mass was held yesterday in the chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes, 
Slidell.
