A resident of St. Tammany Parish since 1975, he was born July 19, 1936 in Henderson, TX to the late Jim A. and Zoila Torrico Osburn. The beloved husband of Patricia Osburn for over 50 years, he is survived by three daughters: Debbie Buquoi, Becky Gaspard and Patsy Hornsby; two sons, Robert K. and David A. Osburn; two brothers, Phillip A. and Victor P. Osburn; his sister, Marynel Williams; 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, James W. Osburn. Robert was very much involved in his high school activities at Abbeville High School in Louisiana. He was a four year letterman in baseball, which was his favorite sport. He also received letter recognition for playing football, basketball and track. He served as Class President, Student Body President and was honored by his classmates as Class Favorite. Upon graduating high school, he entered Southeastern Louisiana Institute in Lafayette, LA where he earned his degree in Petroleum Engineering. During his 37 year career with Shell Offshore Inc., as Production Supervisor he was assigned to several high profile projects including the Cognac and Bullwinkle platforms. He worked as Offshore Installation Manager on Auger, Shell's first tension leg platform located at a water depth of 2860 feet in the Gulf of Mexico. In his youth Robert reached the rank of Eagle Scout. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons, grandsons and friends. A talented woodworker, he always had projects going around the house and was always there to lend a hand and help his children in anyway. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service at 12:00 Noon on Friday, August 5, 2011 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave. Covington, LA 70433. Visiting hours will begin Friday at 10:00 AM. Interment at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Covington will immediately follow services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. ===================
