Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/sttammany/obits/dateobits/2011/st1108.htm and click to view list of photos. ========== U.S. Veteran Dudley Smith of Slidell died on Saturday, August 27, 2011 in Brooklyn, Miss. from injuries suffered in a car accident. He was 71 years of age. A native of New Orleans, and lifelong resident of Slidell, Smith was owner of Dudley Smith Printing. He worked previously at Michoud and Pitney Bowes, before working as a printing plant manager in Nashville, Tenn. Smith started his printing business in Slidell in 1970, which continues in business today and was named the Louisiana Small Businessman of the Year by Governor Buddy Roemer. He was the former president of the Olde Towne MerchantÕs Association, former president of the Rotary Club, charter member of the St. Tammany HomebuilderÕs Association, and past president of the Slidell Chamber of Commerce. Smith was best known for his work with the homeless and needy in Slidell, as founder of the Community Christian Concern of Slidell in 1984, and founder of The Caring Center of Slidell in 1995, a shelter for women and children. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was the husband of Ellen ÒEllieÓ Dalton Smith of Slidell; son of the late Edward and Olga Pichon Smith; and father of Kerwin Smith of Gautier, MS, Konley Smith of Centerville, GA, and Brian Smith of Slidell. Also, brother of Courtney Smith and Michele Page, both of Slidell, and Keith Smith of Conn.; and grandfather of April, Brianna, Brielle, Brendan, Davide and Logan Smith. Funeral services will be held at Honaker Funeral Home of Slidell. Visitation on Thursday, Sept. 1 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home, with services at 4 p.m. Donations preferred in lieu of flowers to The Caring Center, 1020 Buccaran Dr., Slidell, La., 70458, or Community Christian Concern, 2228 Second St., Slidell, La., 70458. ===================
