She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph DÕAntoni, Jr.; daughter of the late John Podmore, Stafforshire England and Catherine Carey Podmore of Lancashire, England; sibling of, John, Thomas, Teddy, Denis, Joan, and Monica Podmore; mother of Charles (Joe), wife Joel. Pauline (Dolly) Meyer, Catherine (Cathy) Navarro, husband Ronald; grandmother of Ron DÕAntoni (Karen), Carey Caye (Duane), Samantha Smith, Cady Perry (Shaun); great-grandmother of Keely Smith and Chase Perry; step grandmother of Cherelle Fakhruddin and Ronald Navarro, Jr. and step great-grandchildren, Ronald, III, Cody, Cali and Chloe Navarro and Preslie Fakhruddin. Mary is also survived by her identical twin, Teresa Schmidt of Yetman, NSW Australia, and nieces Kathleen, Kim, Cady and Aynsley of NSW and loving nephew James Dyer(Joy)and John Dyer of Crewe Cheshire England. MaryÕs love of family and children brought her to having extended grandchildren, Joseph, Melanie, Jacob, Layla and Logan Blackwell; nieces, Bonnie Picone (Russell), Eva Hart (Tim), Cindy Klinesmith, Staci and Laura Picone, and Kenny Melvin and Christina Hart. Mary met her husband Joe during World War II at the famous dances at Crewe Hall in England. They were married in June 1944. After the war Mary had to leave behind her mother and siblings, including her twin. Upon arriving at Ellis Island in March, 1946 with her son Charles, just days later she would be in New Orleans to be with her husband and make it their home. Mary retired from Lykes Bros. Steamship Co. in 1979 where she made numerous friends. Anyone who came in contact with her loved her for her kindness and sweetness. After retirement Mary devoted all her time to her grandchildrenÕs equestrian riding at City Park Stables where everyone knew and loved ÒGrammyÓ. She didnÕt miss a Saints game. Her love for the Saints was just unbelievable, if they won or lost a game she said they played a good game. She experienced the Super Bowl where she cried in glory for the Saints. Mary, will be greatly missed by everyone she came in contact with. She was a gem of a mother, grammy, aunt, sister and friend. Mary was ÒThe QueenÓ. She leaves behind a legacy of love and admiration. Our special thanks go to Dr. R. Pernenkil for all the love, kindness and wonderful care he gave to our mother and grandmother. God Bless You. And also to all the nurses and doctors of Slidell Memorial and East Jefferson Hospital. A funeral Mass was held yesterday at Honaker Funeral Home, Slidell. ===================
