He was a Vietnam War veteran and was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Merritt is survived by his wife of 43 years, Liz Merritt; two children, Wendy Beth Merritt deBram and her husband Jacob James deBram Sr., and William Luther ÒLouÓ Merritt, Jr.; two sisters, Helen Merritt Williams and Yvonne Merritt Carter and two grandchildren, Jacob ÒJakeÓ James deBram, Jr. and Emma Elizabeth deBram. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alice Merritt and a brother, Jack Merritt. Funeral services were held Saturday, from the chapel of D.T. Williams Funeral Home, 67525 Hwy. 41, Pearl River. Interment was in Hickory Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Pearl River, with Brother Jim Baham officiating ===================
