Polk?s valiant battle with melanoma is over, and he has gone home to be with his Lord. He was the fourth child born to Velson and Elnora Gaines Polk of Evans Creek. He graduated in the class of 1962 from Covington High School. Married to Rose Marie Rist for 48 ye ars, he was an avid hunter of the Bogue Chitto Refuge. He loved to camp with family and friends. Roy worked on the Apollo/Saturn 5 Spacecraft at Michoud in the late 1960s and early 1970s. He finished his work career as a lineman for W.S.T. Electric, a position he held for 22 years. He worked tirelessly through Hurricane Katrina to restore power to his community. His strong work ethic taught many the value of dependability, and his faith was a powerful testimony. He was preceeded in death by his parents; his daughter Kimberly Polk Frierson, and his sister Etta Ruth Singletary. He is survived by his wife; son Timothy (Jamie); brother Richard (Sonny) Polk; sister Vivian Cochran; grandsons Shannon, Justin, and Brandon Frierson; granddaughter Taylor Polk; step- granddaughter Alycia Long; three great-grandchildren and two step-great- grandchildren. He was also known as Paw Paw Roy to Ann Marie and Paiten. Services are from 6 - 9 p.m. today at Williams Funeral Home, Pearl River, and from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service time tomorrow Interment is in Audubon Cemetery. ===================
