Beloved Husband of Gloria Kratz Bell. Father of Rev. Dr. Jeffrey S. Bell, Susan Bell Merchant, and Thomas A. Bell. Father-in-law of Susan Cook Bell, R.N., Maj Gen Kenneth Merchant, USAF, and Laura Besh Bell. Grandfather of Christopher and Andrew Bell, Tara M. Lause, Stephen, Kristen and Kathryn Bell. Great grandfather of Nora Bell. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War, attained the rank of Sergeant, was a member and served as Commandant of the Slidell Marine Corp League. He was a Manager for SeaLand Service Containership Operation and retired after 34 years with the company. During his time with SeaLand, he worked in Newark, N.J., San Juan, P. R., the Netherlands and New Orleans. He was a president and longtime member of the Slidell Noon Lions Club, where he received the Melvin Jones Award, a member of the Slidell Masonic Lodge # 311, F & A M., and a member of the Krewe of Endymion since 1993 Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Service at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 360 Robert Blvd., Slidell, LA 70458, on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Slidell Noon Lions Club or Notre Dame Hospice. ===================
