He was born Dec. 16, 1955, in Harahan, to Fred and Evelyn “Bixler” Cook. Charlie married Sandra Shields May 01, 1993, in Gulfport, Miss. He was a proud member of the U.S. Army from 1974 until 1977 in the 1st. Cavalry Division of Ft. Hood and he was a disabled Vietnam veteran. Charlie loved his family very much and was also known as “Three-quarters Dad.” He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Evelyn Cook of Gulfport, and brother David Cook of Biloxi, Miss. Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 18 years Sandra “Sam” Cook of Slidell; three children of his heart, Jessica L Howell and husband Jerry of Magnolia, Texas, Louis J. Desselle of Slidell, and Rachel E Pingel and husband Jason; six grandchildren, Devon Desselle, Elizabeth Gholson, Trenton Gholson, Meghan Pingel, Heide Pingel and Lauren Pingel; five brothers, Jimmy Cook and wife Darlene of Ocean Springs, Miss., Ronald Cook and wife Nancy of Granbury, Texas, Dean Cook and wife Rhonda of Biloxi, Paul Cook and wife Teresa of Pensacola, Fla., and Robert Cook and wife Susan of Devine, Texas; three sisters, Judy Gaston and husband Mike of Kerrville, Texas, Arlene Lobianco and husband Freddie of Millington, Tenn., and Joyce Stelly and husband Stephen of Escondido, Calif.; mother-in-law Elizabeth (Betty) R. Shields of Slidell; in- laws Marsha Craft and husband Jerry of Huntsville, Ala., John G. Shields Jr and wife Terri of Baton Rouge, Sabrina Sharp and husband Ralph of Slidell, Linda Harper and husband Bob of Spring, Texas, and Ross Shields of Slidell, plus many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends who loved him and will miss him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Equipment Fund at the Kerr County Sheriff’s Department. Arrangements are under the care of Wright’s Funeral Parlor in Kerrville, Texas. ===================
