Cox. Also there are his parents, Robert and Emily Cox; his brothers, Robert M. and Allen and his sisters, Minerva, Mildred, Ruth, and Agnes. Dad was born July 7, 1927 in New Orleans and joined the Navy serving as a seaman from June, 1945 to July, 1948, earning the American Area Victory medal. After leaving the service, he went to work at Kaiser Aluminum. He met and married our mom and they started raising a family in Metairie. We moved to Lacombe in 1967. Dad retired from Kaiser in 1982. He and Mom traveled the country, seeing 49 of the 50 United States, sometimes taking with them children and/or grandchildren. He loved family camping trips and outings. Dad joked about being busier in retirement than when he was working. He always had animals he was raising or gardening or taking pictures and spending a lot of time and patience to organize dozens of photo albums. He researched the family tree, did some painting and was very good with woodworking. He loved to build birdhouses and feeders. But if he built himself a special style, he would always have to build four more just like it. After Mom passed away, he enjoyed driving around in his little convertible, stopping in at the different businesses he dealt with to visit and have coffee. Dad leaves behind a lot of people who will always remember him with lots of love and lots of fond memories. Jimmy is survived by Jeanette M. Argus (John, Jr.), Junius E., Jr., (Linda), Judith Draughon Johnson, (Michael), Jacqueline Gutierrez Patrick, (Kevin),; his grandchildren, Thomas Allo, III, Marjorie E. Sanders, Johny Argus, III, Thelma E. Cox, Mindy L. Cox, Charles L. Draughon, Jr., Amanda L. Varnes, R. Gutierrez, Christina L. Gutierrez, Christopher Patrick, Nicholas Patrick; 11 great- grandchildren, and one niece, Emily Lou Ford. We the children of Jimmy Cox would like to express special thanks to Lakeshore Hospice for the respect and kindness they showed Our dad, We would also like to thank the staffs of OMC-NS and Lacombe Nursing Center for the care that was given during his stays. A memorial service will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, at D.T. Williams Funeral Home, 67525 Hwy. 41, Pearl River. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Stroke Association, 9707 East Easter Lane, Centennial, CO 80112. ===================
