A native of Oklahoma City, OK, he was born November 10, 1923 in Independence, KS and has been a resident of Mandeville, LA since 1963. The beloved husband (over fifty years) of the late Jean Kelley Garrison, he is survived by his daughter, Sean Garrison; two sons, Bernard Garrison and his wife, Anne Brignac Garrison, and Kelly Garrison; daughter in law Carin Garrison; eight grandchildren: Nicole, Cheyenne, Kelly Michelle, Max, Jade, Jacob, Ryan and Leigha Garrison and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry (Jack) and Mattie Florence Kerr Garrison; one son, Ross Bryan Garrison and his brother, Dewayne Maxfield Garrison. Jack was a devoted husband, father and friend who showed us how to love and cherish family, make friends forever, nicknames, famous quotes, fix stuff, courage, humility, forgiveness, and responsibility. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard on the USS Camp DE 251during World War II, graduated from University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology in 1950, worked for Humble Oil & Refining Company later Exxon Corporation for over thirty years as a geologist and senior geophysicist, was past president of OU Alumni in New Orleans, later opened the Southeastern Division for an independent oil company, Tomlinson Interests, Inc. in New Orleans, and in his senior years served and cherished the opportunity for over twenty years (combined) as a golf course marshal for Pretty Acres Golf Course and Covington Country Club. The family would like to thank Dad╒s wonderful neighbors in Old Golden Shores and numerous friends, for their friendship, love and care through the years. Also, thanks to the nursing team, kitchen (catfish ready) staff, and residents for the wonderful love and care given to Dad while a resident of Christwood Retirement Community. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend memorial services in casual attire and no ╥hard╙ shoes at 12 Noon on 12th day, November, 2011 at Covington Country Club, Covington, LA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jack╒s name to National Parkinson Foundation Inc. or the Jack Garrison Youth Golf Instruction Fund in care of the Pro Shop at Covington Country Club. ===================
