What a wonderful person, God blessed her so much. She had a great life on earth and now will have an even greater one in Heaven. Dorothy was born and raised in Panama City, FL. She was the daughter of Charles Dewitt McIver and Montie Patrick McIver. The sister of Hurley “Bill” McIver, Liberty McIver Mills, “Sonny” Charles McIver and Peggy McIver Horne. Dorothy and John have lived in Slidell, LA since 1975. Dorothy was the blessed wife of the late John P. Pennington. Loving mother of Patricia Pennington Patin-Haas, Penny Pennington Cornett and the late John M. Pennington. Mother-in-law of the late Thaddeus Patin, Steve Haas and the late Richard Cornett. Proud grandmother of Dena Cornett Daniel and Anthony, John Cornett and Danielle, Kraig Cornett, Zachary Cornett and Courtney, and Mike Cornett; Elizabeth Patin Lee and Raphael Cruz, Thaddeus Patin, II and Jennifer, and Robert Haas, Susan Haas Meaux and Todd, Joe, Tommy and David Haas; Sam Rizzo, John “JC” Pennington, James and Heather Pennington and Nikki Pennington. Great grandmother of Keegan Cornett, Jeremy and Colton Cornett, Emily, Erin and Macy Daniel; Paytin Lee; Austin, Camryn and Laney Meaux; Sebastian and Kiya Rizzo; Michael Haas; Austin Pennington, Ryder and Bayle Wells. Dorothy was a nurse until the age of 74. She not only was a wonderful person to her entire family but also a wonderful person to hundreds of patients and friends. We would like to give much thanks to Delta Home Health and St. Joseph’s Hospice for the wonderful care they have provided. Friends of the family are invited to attend a memorial service at 1ST United Methodist Church of Slidell, 433 Erlanger St., Slidell, LA 70458 on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be held at church from 1:00pm until 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the 1st United Methodist Church of Slidell would be an appreciated and appropriate way to celebrate her love of God.
