She was the wife of the late Paul F. McLean and B. F. Shaw; beloved mother of Ellen Jenkins(Harry), Susan Welsh(Thomas), John (Marsha) and Scott McLean(Jennifer); grandmother of Steven Davis, Jennifer Davis, Jeffrey McLean, Kendall McLean, and Kate McLean and the late Michael McLean and great- grandmother of John and Andrew Davis, Carter and Nate McLean. A native of Bainbridge, Ga., she married Paul in 1946 and moved to New Orleans, and later to Slidell, where she spent many happy years. Jo graduated from Emory University in 1942 as a registered nurse. She proudly served her country as a 1st Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps in England during World War II. She worked as a registered nurse in labor and delivery for over 30 years at Baptist Hospital in New Orleans and at Slidell Memorial Hospital. She was a long time member of Slidell Garden Club and Pinewood Country Club. She had a tremendous level of energy throughout her life and through her final days and this energy has been ingrained in her children and grandchildren. She was always gentle, kind and loved being with her family. She enjoyed a long and happy life. Many thanks to Arlene and also the kind, caring staff at the Carpenter House in Baton Rouge for taking care of our mother. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. West, (in Forest Lawn Cemetery), Slidell. Visitation on Monday is from 11 a.m.until funeral time. Interment is in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Donations to Slidell Humane Society are prefferred, in lieu of flowers.
