Beloved husband of Rosemary Wallace Thomas for 60 years. He was devoted to his family. Father of David Samuel Thomas, Jr. (wife Lucy McAuliffe Thomas) and Becky Thomas Ricketts (husband W. Kevin Ricketts). A cherished grandfather of Chelsea and Nathan Ricketts, Nicholas, Olivia, and Alexander Thomas. Brother of William and Horace Thomas. A native of El Dorado, AR and a resident of New Orleans/Covington, LA for the past 33 years. David served as a Master Sergeant in the Army stationed at Pearl Harbor during WWII. He graduated as a Chemical Engineer from Texas A&M in 1950. David managed the Murphy Oil Refinery in Meraux, LA. A natural athlete, David played college football and won championships in tennis, bowling, softball, and golf, where his handicap peaked at 4. Mr. Thomas was active in church and served as a deacon. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service from First Baptist Church of Covington, 16333 Hwy 1085, Covington, LA 70433 on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 12:00 PM. Visitation, AT THE CHURCH, from 10:00 AM until service time. Interment in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to the WWII Museum, 945 Magazine Street, New Orleans, LA 70130 (nationalww2museum.org). ===================
