She was born on March 17, 1951 in Lecompte, Louisiana. She grew up in Pine Prairie, LA. She married David Johnson of Turkey Creek, LA in 1970 and moved to Slidell, LA in 1972 where she lived until her passing. Faye was a beautiful example of love all her life. She loved her family, she loved her friends and most of all she loved her Savior. It was her love for Jesus that moved her to live a selfless life of devotion and grace. She never took lifefor granted and never missed an opportunity to express her love to those around her, especially her family. She was known to say that the people in her life were her greatest treasures. She and David have been members of First Baptist Church of Slidell for 39 years. Faye loved children. She taught preschool for 32 years at First Baptist Child Development Center and Sunday School for First Baptist Church of Slidell for 33 years where she was lovingly known as “Miss Faye.” She also worked at STARC for 9 years. She loved to be outdoors digging in God’s dirt and planting flowers. She always thought that everything was a teachable moment for children especially when it came to the beauty of God’s perfect creation. Many people may not have known that Faye was also an artist and a beautiful writer. Faye was the devoted wife of David Johnson for 41 years, and the beloved mother of Jonathan Johnson and Kyle Johnson, all of Slidell. She was lovingly referred to as “Mother-in-Love” by her daughters-in-law, Jenny M. Johnson and Jennifer G. Johnson, and was affectionately known as Grandma to 6 grandchildren who were the love of her live - Jordan, Kylee, Emma, Carson, Brady and Lilee Johnson. She is also survived by three sisters; Yvonne Ortego of Lone Pine, LA, Opal Hodge of Winnsboro, LA and Edwina Jameson (wife of Roy) of Pineville, LA, and two brothers, Jim Carson (husband of Mary) and her twin brother, Ray Carson (husband of Belca), both of Pine Prairie, LA. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends whom she cherished dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Gordie Carson of Pine Prairie and her grandparents, Braxton and Lillie O’Neal Carson and Jeff and Emma West, of Pine Prairie, LA. Services will be held to celebrate Faye’s life on Saturday, December 3rd at First Baptist Church, 4141 Pontchartrain Dr. in Slidell. Visitation is 9:00am to 11:00am with the funeral to follow at 11:00am and interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Slidell, LA. Flowers can be sent to First Baptist Church Slidell, or donations can be made in Faye’s name to the First Baptist Child Development Center in Slidell. ===================
