Beloved Husband of Lynn Willard Nunez. Son of the late Elden L. Nunez, Sr. and Cecilia Meyer Nunez. Father of Tara Smith (Bobby) and Ryan Nunez (Margaret ”Minnie”) Brother of the late Harold C. Nunez. Also survived by 3 grandchildren, Holley, Aidan and Owen Smith, 2 nieces, Alicia Pritchett and Lauren Gast, 2 nephews, Wade Nunez and Trae Gary and numerous great nieces and nephews. Age 69 years. A native of New Orleans and a longtime resident of Slidell. Known to many as “Coach Lou” at the Slidell Youth Soccer Club, he spent many happy years coaching his teams. He was a graduate of Loyola University, New Orleans. A retired Sergeant of the New Orleans Police Department after 31 years of service, he was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Police Mutual Benevolent Association. He was also a longtime member of Masonic Lodge #311 F & A.M. and Elks Lodge #2321. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME, 1751 GAUSE Blvd. WEST (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell, LA on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. Visitation on Thursday after 10:00 A.M. followed by Masonic Services at 12:00 o’clock noon. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Masonic Learning Center of Louisiana Dyslexia Program, 5800 Masonic Drive, Alexandria, La. 71301 or to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX., preferred. ===================
