She was the youngest child of Edward Heitzmann and Lottie May Jones Heitzmann originally of Waveland, MS. She was the sister of Edward (Buster) Heitzmann, Jr., Lottie May Younger, Theodore (Teddy) Heitzmann and Louise Heitzmann Allen. During World War II she married Louis E. Perez on March 21, 1943 at Maianna Air Force Base in Marianna, FL and they recently celebrated 68 years of marriage. She is survived by four children, Janace P. Gennusa, Susan P. Larsen, Louis E. Perez, Jr. and Patricia (Missy) P. Blackman; three sons-in-law, Thomas Gennusa II, Chris Larsen, Jr. and Michael Blackman, Sr. She also had one daughter-in- law, the late Donna Herron Perez. Survived by eleven grandchildren, Lisa G. Flood, Thomas (Tommy) Gennusa III, Gina G. Piacun, Kevin Gennusa, Patricia (Trish) L. Scalia, Chris Larsen III, Melissa Perez, Carla Perez Peterson, Michael Blackman Jr, Lisa Blackman and Jenny Blackman. She is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren, Ryan Flood, Christopher Flood, Trevor Flood, Parker Piacun, Grant Piacun, Palmer Piacun, Riley Gennusa, Thomas Gennusa IV, RowanGennusa, Nino Scalia, Megan Scalia, Jack Scalia, Bridget Scalia, Luke Scalia, Erin Scalia, Margaret Larsen and Matthew Larsen. She was a founding member of St. Francis Cabrini Parish, which was demolished after Hurricane Katrina. She then became a member for a brief time of Mary Queen of Peace and then a founding member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Covington. Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Mass at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 6666 Spanish Fort Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124 on Wednesday, November 23, 2011at 12:00 noon. Visitation will be at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, LA 70433 on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM. Interment will follow Mass in Hope Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family requests Masses or donations in memory of Mrs. Perez to a charity of your choice. ===================
