A native of New Orleans, LA, he was a resident of Covington for the past 52 years. The beloved husband of the late Denise Nichaud Villere for 64 years, he is the father of Edward D. (Mary Kathryn), Ronald J. (Charmaine), Donald J. (Colleen) and Keith J. (Carol) Villere and the late Denise V. (Larry) Centola; brother of' Emily V. LeCorgne and the late Sidney Dennis Villere. He was born the son of Jules Villere and Emily Helfrich and the grandson of Denis Villere and Malvina Cruzat. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren: Ashley Chitwood, Eddie and Heath Villere, Larry, Denise and Deborah Centola, Jeremy and Kimberly Villere, Alexis Petitt, Jacob, Jason, Matthew and Emily Villere and Emma and Zack Villere and 14 great-grandchildren. Eddie graduated from Warren Easton High School, Spencer Business College and Loyola Law School. After Law School, he served as First Assistant to the Executive Counsel to Governor Sam Jones before a tour of duty in the US Army. Eddie was one of three people recommended by Louisiana Law Schools to participate in an investigative unit patterned after the FBI and worked with the FBI on special assignment. After moving to Covington, Eddie served for many years as a board member of the Lurline Smith Mental Health Clinic, member of the American Legion, Knights of Columbus and was active with the Ozone C's Square Dance Club. The family wishes to thank Carolyn Smiley for her dedicated and compassionate care of Mr. V. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass at 12:00 Noon on Monday, November 14, 2011 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave, Covington, LA 70433. Visiting hours will begin Monday at 10:00 AM. Interment at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Covington will immediately follow mass. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Food Bank, 840 N. Columbia St. Covington, LA 70433 or Saint Scholastica Chapel, 122 S.
