He was born June 15, 1927, in Auburn, Alabama, to Wiley McKinney and Robbie Jewell Smith Forbus. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Paducah, and was a retired pharmacist. He graduated from Auburn High School in 1945 and was on the football team for three years. Forbus became an Eagle Scout at 15. He later served as a Scoutmaster of Boy Scouts of America. He served his country as a dental technician in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He then attended Alabama Agricultural & Mechanical University, now Auburn University, and graduated in December 1950, with a B.S. degree in Pharmacy. All who knew Byron were aware of his love for his alma mater. He not only was an avid sports fan of any athletic event in which Auburn participated, but he was just as avid about academics. You could pick him out in an athletic event crowd - and sometimes in any gathering, when you heard him yell “War Eagle.” For more than seven years, Byron provided his family with trips to the Southeastern Conference Basketball Tournaments. He worked as a relief pharmacist in Auburn, Ala. from 1988 until 1992, when he moved to Paducah, Ky. He established Medicap Pharmacy in the Lone Oak Area until 2000, then worked as a relief pharmacist for various CVS pharmacies in Western Kentucky until his retirement in 2005.He has been a member of pharmacy associations in North Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee, and Kentucky. He was an active member of Lions’ Clubs in Murray and Lone Oak, Ky. and in Auburn, Ala. In 1988, He married Levicie Murphy Zambella, and moved to Auburn, Ala., where they enjoyed Auburn University sports for four years before moving to Paducah. He became stepfather to Lester Ashley, Tony, Carl and Tommy Zambella. He subsequently became lovingly known as “Papa” to Brandon and Nancy Ashley; and Candice, Jacob and Neemia Zambella. With his wife, Levicie, at his side, Byron enjoyed traveling to visit family and friends as well as traveling extensively in the U.S. and several foreign countries to see the beautiful scenery that God provided.
