Colonel William (Bill) Gerald Hart reunited with his lord and savior on December 16, 2011. He was born in Denver, Colorado to the late Herbert C. and Elise J. Hart. Bill married Verda Cooke (Dec) from South Dakota in 1943. They raised 3 children: Karen Hart, Kathleen Taylor (Jeffrey Taylor), and the late Laurel Hart After re-devoting his life to God in 1995, he married Sandy Spence, with whom he cared for and was cared for until his final days. In addition to his two daughters and beloved wife Sandy, Bill is survived by his grandsons William Sours and Beau Duvall, and great-grand-daughter Lauren Sours. Bill served with the United States Air Force for 27 years. He served as a Squad Radar Navigator aboard numerous bomber aircrafts. He was a veteran of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, and anxiously carried nuclear armaments through the Cold War. He was awarded numerous awards and medals, including The Distinguished Flying Cross, Purple Hart and Bronze Star for valor. Bill retired in 1970, and never passed an opportunity to share his interesting stories with those that would listen. Bill re-committed himself to Jesus in 2010 with Lakeshore Church, with whom he held membership. He enjoyed wood-working, home decorating and model making. He also felt a deep honor for defending America, shown through his interests in eagles, flags and classic American cars. He always enjoyed doing things for other people. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Services on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 2:00 PM from Lakeshore Church, 15261 Brewster Rd., Covington, LA 70433.
