Monsignor Marion Francis Schutten died at his home in Covington Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, at the age of 92. A native of New Orleans, and a resident of Covington for 35 years, he was the son of the late Elizabeth Leidenheimer Schutten and Bernard J. Schutten, Sr.; brother of Mrs. Dorothy Schutten Guste of New Orleans, Mrs. Julie Schutten Pitot of Madison, Wis., and the late Julie Schutten and Colonel Bernard J. Schutten, Jr. Relatives and friends, also parishioners of St. Rosalie Parish of Harvey, former parishioners of St. Lawrence the Martyr Parish of Metairie, and the staff and former patients of Southeast Louisiana Hospital are invited to attend the funeral Mass at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Our Lady of Divine Providence, 1000 N. Starrett Road, Metairie, with visitation at the church beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Metairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Monsignor Marion F. Schutten Foundation for the training of candidates for the priesthood. Donations to this foundation may be made at the time of the funeral or sent in care of The Catholic Foundation, 1000 Howard Ave., Suite 700, New Orleans, LA 70113.
