Smith, former owner of Caroline Smith and Associates Real Estate Agency died Monday, December 19, 2011 in Covington, LA. She was 88 years old. Mrs. Smith was born in Buffalo, NY and lived in Mandeville for the past 48 years. She received her education in New York State and Southeastern Louisiana University and through extensive travel to 62 countries with husband Weldon P. Smith. Mrs. Smith was an executive secretary with the Buffalo Municipal Housing Authority from 1941- 1951. From 1964 – 1978 she taught second grade at Our Lady of the Lake School and in 1979 opened her own real estate agency, which she operated for 20 years until her retirement. A recent parishioner of Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, she was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Alter Society, Legion of Mary Praesidium and the Human Performance Institute. She served on the City of Mandeville Planning and Zoning Board and was an active member of the St. Tammany Board of Realtors. She also served on the board of the St. Tammany Humane Society in the 70’s and was a Camp Fire Girl leader in the 60’s. Before her death, Mrs. Smith requested that her gratitude be given to her wonderful family for their constant love and care, to her close friends for many happy moments shared, to her students at OLL for bringing her much joy and pride, and to so many friends, neighbors and acquaintances who enriched her life. She is survived by her daughter, Sue Ann Wiedeman Murley and husband Richard; one son, Edward A. Wiedeman and wife Susie; four grandchildren: Kelly Seale Wiedeman Gohres, Christy Elizabeth Wiedeman, Christopher Richard Murley and Caroline Marie Murley; and great-grand daughter Elizabeth Deselle Murley; step son W. Pat Smith (Sharon); two step daughters, Grace Smith Crain (Lester) and Martha Smith Vincent (Louis); seven step grandchildren and eight step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her second husband Weldon Pedo Smith and by her first husband Sulo Y. Wiedeman and her parents Edward W. and Caroline Keller Rost. A funeral mass will be said at 12:00 Noon on Friday, December 23, 2011 at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 1550 West Causeway Approach Mandeville, LA 70471. Visiting hours will begin Friday at 10:00 AM. Interment at the Mandeville Cemetery will immediately follow mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mary Queen of Peace or Our Lady of the Lake Churches. ===================
