Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/sttammany/obits/dateobits/2011/st1112.htm and click to view list of photos. ========== Elisabeth Church Wood of Covington, LA, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at her daughter’s residence in Poplarville, MS. Age 96 years. She was born on July 28, 1915 in Sulpher Springs, AR. Elisabeth was predeceased by her beloved husband of 50 years, Max Wardlaw Wood. She is survived by a son, Dr. Warren Walker Wood and wife Frances Baham Wood of Hammond, LA and two daughters, Meredith Wood Holdcraft and husband Ret. Col. Michael Holdcraft of Asheville, NC and Elisabeth Wood Magee and husband Mitch Magee of Poplarville, MS. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Matthew Wood, Ryan Wood, Jennifer Holdcraft, David Holdcraft, Jacob Magee, Lauren Magee Noel and John Mitchell Magee and four great-grandchildren, Maxwell Wood, Evan Magee and twins Abbey and Ian Magee. Elisabeth graduated from Loretta Academy, a private school in Kansas City, Kansas in 1932. She worked for the telephone company in Fort Smith, AR before marrying Max and moving to New Orleans. They moved to Covington in 1963. Elisabeth worked as secretary at First United Methodist Church in Covington for many years where she also served as organist. She taught piano lessons in her home and played the organ for many Covington weddings. Elisabeth served as a volunteer at St. Tammany Hospital for over thirty years. She was a member of Magnolia Blanc, Chapter 250, of the Order of the Eastern Star, was a member of PEO, Chapter AS, an international sorority, and sang in the North Lake Performing Arts Choir. Elisabeth resided for the last three years at the Windsor Retirement Community in Mandeville. Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral services at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, December 17, 2011at 3:00 PM with visitation on Saturday from 1:00 PM until service time. Interment will follow in Abita Springs Cemetery. ===================
