Went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 10, 2012. Devoted Christian and devoted husband of Judy Wolberton Gooch. Father of Andrea G. Starnes and husband Jim and Russell L. Gooch. Grandfather of Gabrielle Gooch and Michael Starnes. Brother of Delores Mather and husband Paul and Judith Gooch. Brother-in-law of Cecil Wolberton and wife Carla, Celia Gebhardt and husband Ed and the late Susan Wheeler. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Son of the late Russell and Geraldine Porth Gooch. He was a retired Lt. Col. in the US Army. A graduate of Murray State University and attained a Masters Degree from LSU. Age 69 years. A native of Madisonville, KY, a former resident of Chalmette, LA, Shreveport, LA and a resident of Abita Springs, LA for the past 3 years. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service from E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Visitation on Friday from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM and on Saturday from 9:00 AM until service time. Interment in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to either the Samaritan Center, 402 Gerard St., Mandeville, LA 70448 or to Church of the King Legacy Fund, 22205 Little Creek Rd., Mandeville, LA 70448. ===================
