Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/sttammany/obits/dateobits/2012/st1201.htm and click to view list of photos. ========== Anthony J. “A.J.” Macaluso, Jr. passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2011 at Christwood Retirement Community. He was born in New Orleans on November 3, 1922 to the late Anthony J., Sr. and Celeste Rills Macaluso. For 54 years, he was the beloved husband of the late Muriel “Penny” Mistich Macaluso. One brother, Harry Vinet and his sister, Doris Rita Galliano also preceded him in death. He is survived by a loving and dedicated extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He joined the Marines early during WW II serving as a paratrooper in the Pacific. He was wounded in action twice by the Japanese on the Island of Bougainville. After his discharge he worked for many years at the Higgins Shipyards which designed and produced the famous PT Boats and amphibious landing crafts used extensively during WW II. After his retirement he continued to build different types of pleasure boats and remained an avid outdoorsman. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the memorial mass at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 13, 2011 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave. Covington, LA 70433. Visiting hours will begin Friday at 9:00 AM. Interment at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Covington will immediately follow mass ===================
