McCORMICK

Louis L. McCormick, Jr., a retired petroleum geologist, died peacefully at his 
home on the morning of Tuesday Dec. 13. 

He was 89 years old. 

The husband of 65 years to the late Marge McCormick, he was a generous and 
determined father to Colin (Celia), Peggy, Barry (Toni), Dana and to his 
grandsons, Ian and Connor. 

Lou was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Christwood Apartments since 
2005. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy as a flight instructor, a member, 
former officer and Man of the Year of New Orleans Geological Society, a member 
of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and of the Baton Rouge 
Geological Society. Lou enjoyed traditional New Orleans Jazz, and loved 
traveling.

A celebration of Lou’s life will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Christwood 
Apartments. 

In lieu of flowers, Lou requested that donations be made to the New Orleans 
Geological Society Memorial Scholarship Fund, Suite 300, 810 Union Street, New 
Orleans, LA
