Doris was born in Willimantic, CT on January 27, 1933, the daughter of the late Toby Fox and late Jack Ogushwitz. The beloved wife of Peter A. Nichols for 50 years, she is survived by her daughter Dina Nichols of Melbourne, FL, son Charles P. Nichols of Mandeville, LA, brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Gertrude Ogushwitz of Storrs, CT. Doris graduated Windham High School in Willimantic CT in 1950 and University of Bridgeport in 1952. She was a Registered Dental Hygienist and practiced Dental Hygiene for 13 years at her uncle’s practice, Dr. Harry Fox. She resided in Columbia, CT for 40 years and worked with her husband for their own company, Nichols Equipment for 17 years. Doris and Peter sold their company and moved to Mandeville, LA in 2002. In her younger years, Doris was very active in the Willimantic synagogue. She was an amazing pianist, enjoyed baking, knitting and was very involved with her children’s extra-curricular activities. The last 8 years, she enjoyed square and round dancing with the Tammany Twirlers and was the secretary of the club. She also enjoyed camping, reading and traveling to Florida several times a year. She loved the family dog of 15 years, Zeus. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, January 23rd at 11 am. Grave-side services will be held at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, 2280 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433. The family will receive friends after the service at their home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Doris’ memory may be made to Connecticut Humane Society, Hospice of Eastern Connecticut or the Covenant Soup Kitchen. ===================
