Beloved husband of 33 years to Mary Sanchez “Cookie” Read; loving father of Corinne Read VanderKaay (Cody), Valerie Read Martinez (Juan, Jr.) and Caroline Read d’Hemecourt (John, Jr.); brother of M’Adele R. Irvin (James), Renee Read, Margaret “Meg” Read, Baldwin Read (Tracy) and Sidonie R. Petagna (Keith). Grandfather of Mazzee, Patrick and Cyrus. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marthe Adele Scott Read; and his father, Charles Favrot Read, Sr. Age 65 years, he was native of New Orleans, LA and a lifetime resident of Covington, LA. Rusty was a 1964 graduate of St. Paul School and then attended Centenary College in Shreveport where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Deacon Rusty was ordained a deacon of the Archdiocese of New Orleans on December 4, 1993, and was assigned to St. Peter Catholic Church in Covington for some 15 years, then to St. Anselm Catholic Church in Madisonville, LA until his death. He was honored to serve as Master of Ceremonies for the Archbishop and bishops of the Archdiocese of New Orleans. He was a board member of the Archdiocese of New Orleans Catholic Foundation; founding member, past president, treasurer and board member of New Orleans Northshore Chapter of Legatus International, of which he received the International Officer of the Year Award in 2010; board member of Focus Worldwide Network; and was a member of the St. Peter Church Knights of Columbus Council # 12906. He was former President and Co-owner of Anserphone, Inc. and Anserve, Inc. He was former president and board member of the Associated Telephone Answering Exchange; and past president and board member of the Southern Telephone Answering Service Trade Association. He was also a past officer and member of several carnival organizations and the Hammond Chapter of the Harley Owners Group. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass at St. Joseph Abbey, 75376 River Road, St. Benedict, LA 70457 on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 2:00 PM. Visitation on Wednesday will be at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, LA from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Interment will follow mass at St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to St. Anselm Catholic Church Building Fund, 306 St. Mary Street, Madisonville, LA 70447 or the ALS Association LA/MS Chapter, Post Office Box 66825, Baton Rouge, LA 70896. ===================
