SHUBERT, SR., of Slidell, LA, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Monday, January 23, 2012. Beloved husband of the late Joyce R. Shubert for 40 years. Companion of Beverly S. Williams. Father of Claire Berner (Johnny), Cindy Ellinger (Vincent), Lloyd Shubert, Jr. (Toni), Michael Shubert (Sandra) and the late Thelma Ann Shubert. Step-father of Dawn Ladner (Marcus), Karen Normand (Jeff) and the late Leon G. Williams. Son of the late Roy Shubert, Sr. and Laura Detweiller Shubert. Brother of Roy Shubert, Jr. and the late George Shubert, Clair Shubert and Georgette Raymond. Also survived by 9 grandchildren; Chanel, Christopher, Carl, Christa, Samantha, Nicole, Jason, Kayla and Blake; 9 great grandchildren; Zachary, Julia, Jonah, Ethan, Bryce, Issac, Dalton, Kayden and Rylee and 10 step-grandchildren and 7 step-great grandchildren. Age 79 years; a native of New Orleans and a resident of Slidell since 1973. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. At an early age , Mr. Shubert became a dairyman. He then worked for Pre-Stress, Inc. and then was employed as a Longshoreman in New Orleans. After, he went to work for St. Tammany Parish Police Jury as a supervisor and retired from St. Tammany Parish School Board in the early 1990’s. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME, 1751 GAUSE Blvd. WEST (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell, LA on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 from 6:00pm until 9:00pm and on Thursday morning from 9:00am until 11:00am. Funeral services will begin at 11:00am. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Donations to The American Society at www.cancer.org is preferred, in lieu of flowers.
