She was born September 30, 1923 to the late Warren Edgar and Rosa Serrano Williams she was a life resident Louisiana. She is survived by two sisters, Lorraine Williams Moore (Howard) and Doris Williams Caire (Edward); her sister-in-law, Eleanor Williams and was preceded in death by her brother Warren E. Williams, Jr. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and four generations of cousins for whom she had a tremendous love. Sr. Rose Mary touched so many lives in her years as an educator, counselor and servant to the City of New Orleans that her “family” grew to include the Sisters of Mt. Carmel, Brothers and Sisters of the Order of St. Benedict and many other colleagues and devoted former students. At age 15, Rose Mary dedicated herself as a servant to the Catholic Church and to the Mt. Carmel Order. She began a teaching career at Mt. Carmel. She also taught at St. Dominick and for a brief period in Lafitte, LA before coming back to New Orleans for the Principal’s position at St. Louis King of France School. After years as an educator, she took an administrative and counseling position at Mercy Hospital. Her work at Mercy opened the doors to a collection of charities around the city like St. Stephen’s, which gave her the opportunity to guide and encourage the poor and less fortunate with God’s message of hope and salvation. Tirelessly, she shared the gifts God gave her. She was truly a skilled educator and compassionate counselor whose impact on this community is immeasurable. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at St. Anselm Catholic Church, 306 St. Mary St. Madisonville, LA 70447.
