He is proceeded in death by his mother Johnnie Mae Conerly; his father Sedgie Conerly; one sister Mandia Conerly Johnson and one brother Sedgie Conerly Jr. He leaves to cherish his loving memory one brother Lenell Conerly of Freeport, Texas. Many of you knew James as he has been with the city for 22 years and most of that time spent working in the Downtown Development area taking care of the gardens, weed eating, grass cutting, maintaining the Trailhead and so much more. Since July, he has been a part of the Public Works Department. James worked for the city previously as a garbage collector. Those who knew James will always remember his many stories, his love of fishing and gardening, and his dedication and commitment to the City of Covington. You may have even seen James riding his bike through downtown Covington. He would tell stories of his childhood as though it was yesterday, often quoting the great advice he received from his mother. He was taught to always work hard, be proud of the work you choose, and be honest. And that’s exactly what James did every day when reporting to work. He will be sadly missed. Our thanks to Kevin Bradford, Junior Brown, and the Covington Police Department. A service will be held Monday Feb, 27, 2012 at Greater Starlight Baptist Church 512 W. 28th Ave. Covington.. A visitation will be held from 9 – 10 a.m. Service will follow. The Rev. Mallery Callahan will officiate. Interment is in Wilson Cemetery, Covington. ===================
