She was born in Fargo, ND on April 15,1945. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Slidell, on Saturday, February 25 at 11:00. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 9:00AM. A reception will follow in the church fellowship area. Bonnie is survived by her husband Dennis, daughters Shanon Peters (Dana), Wellington, New Zealand; Nicole Scott (Mark), Germantown, TN; her mother Pearl Burt, Pelican Rapids, MN; sister Marilynn Kelm, Atlanta, GA; sister Julie Burt, Houston, TX; and 5 grandchildren. Her father, Willard Burt, preceded her in death. Interment will be at Zion Lutheran Church on Franklin Lake cemetery, rural Pelican Rapids, MN, near her summer home on beloved Pelican Lake. She visited Pelican Lake in 63 of her 66 years. A celebratory memorial service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church next summer. Bonnie was a dedicated and loving wife and mother, an outstanding educator, and an excellent and skilled textile and fiber arts artisan. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, knitting, cross stitching, embroidery, dyeing, crocheting, needlepoint, latch hooking, smocking, tailoring, beading/rhinestoning and embellishing costumes and gowns and sharing her skills with others. She enjoyed traveling and visited Canada, Mexico, many of the Philippine Islands, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, Japan, New Zealand (several times), Indonesia, Komodo, Vanautu, Fiji, Tahiti, Moorea, Bora Bora, Hawaii, England, Italy, Greece and Sicily. Although certainly appreciated and enjoyed, flowers quickly wilt away; a contribution to the ALS Association, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or Zion Lutheran Church in her memory would facilitate the sharing of ‘blooms’ in the future. Bonnie requested that everyone consider becoming a friend of PALS (Person with ALS) and wear a red ALS wristband in honor of her. The family has them available.
