He was born in New Orleans, LA on August 25, 1926 to the late Anthony Leo and Beatrice Eckert Guardina and has been a resident of Covington since 1982. The beloved husband of Lois Duehr Guardina, he is survived by one son, Anthony “Lenny” Leonardo Guardina, Jr. (wife, Sharon); two daughters, Pamela G. Zimmerman (husband, Fred) and Gaynell G. Pearson (husband, Michael); one sister, Louise G. Brandon; five grandchildren: Alecia G. Knight (husband, Nathan), Ansley G. Frey (husband, Adam), William J., Richard A. and Jonathan M. Pearson; two great-grandchildren, Jackson Anthony Frey and Faye Julia Knight. Mr. Guardina courageously enlisted into the U.S. Navy in 1944 and served for a period of time in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre during WW II. After being honorable discharged in 1946, he attended Loyola University. He served 16 years on the New Orleans Police Department and retired in 1967 as a Lieutenant. He co-owned the Best Western Patio Motel in New Orleans for nearly 20 years, which he sold after moving to Covington in 1982. He was also a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 27, 2012 from the church at St. Joseph Abbey, 75376 River Rd., St. Benedict, LA 70457. Before mass, visiting hours will be held at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave. Covington, LA 70433 from 12:00 noon until 1:30 PM. Interment at St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery will immediately follow mass. ===================
