Mr. Lord was born on August 16, 1947 in Nassau County, New York, the son of the late Laurance Lord and the late Peggy Jane Machlin Lord. For the past 28 years, he has been the beloved husband of Roxanne Galatas Lord. Jeff earned a B.S. in Marketing from Merrimack College in Andover, Massachusetts and was trained in Strategic Market Management at Harvard Business School. For thirty-five years, until his retirement, he thrived in the industrial coatings business. In. 1983, his employment brought him to South Louisiana. He fell in love with Louisiana culture and with Slidell native Roxanne Galatas, who he married in 1984. Business opportunities led the couple to Kentucky, where they lived for 22 years, both in Louisville and Georgetown. Jeff obtained his private and commercial pilot license in 1985, and enjoyed flying around the country with Roxanne in their Piper Cherokee. He traded in his airplane in 2002, and he and Roxanne continued their travels by Harley-Davidson Electra Glide. Jeff was also an avid golfer, a past-time he enjoyed with his brother-in-law, Geoffrey Santini, and his late father-in-law, Clarence “Nuni” Galatas. Upon his retirement in 2009, out of love for Louisiana and to be near family, Jeff and Roxanne returned to Slidell, where they intended to live out their lives together. Jeff leaves behind his wife, Roxanne Galatas Lord; his son, Thomas Lord(Trina), daughter, Dawn Abney; siblings, Daniel, Christopher (Mary); step-siblings, Fredric(Lisa), Gretchen Ruoff (Don), William Ruoff, Mikie Thompson (Rand), and Buffy Derrick; mother-in-law, Barbara McPherson Galatas; sister-in-law, Benita Galatas Santini; and brothers-in-law, Geoffrey Santini and Kevin Galatas. Friends and family are invited to visit at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Boulevard West, Slidell, LA 70460 on Friday, March 2, 6:00-9:00 P.M., and on Saturday, March 3, 9:00-11:00 A.M., followed immediately by a memorial service.
