PILLARS

Wilbert Milton Pillars passed away Monday Jan. 30, 2012.

He was born Jan. 1, 1930, and was the son of the late Deacon Isadore S. Pillars 
and Mayreather B. Pillars of Slidell. He was preceded in death by his first 
wife, Viola Lavadin Pillars, the mother of his children; his second wife, Helen 
Gordon Pillars, and his sister Dorothy Pillars Baker.

Pillars grew up in Slidell and was a graduate of St. Tammany Parish Training 
School. He attended Straight’s Business School. He was a Korean War veteran in 
the U.S. Army and was a 25-year retiree of Folger’s Coffee Co. He was a member 
of the Starlight Missionary Baptist Church and the Rock of Ages Missionary 
Baptist Church after he moved to New Orleans.

He is survived by his longtime loving companion, Geraldine Holland, her 
children and grandchildren all of New Orleans; two daughters, Demetria Pillars 
Freeman (Eric), and Victoria Allen Haynes (Garon); grandchildren, Peter Allen 
and Duplexis Allen, and two great-grandchildren, Amare Hayes of McComb, Miss., 
and Ann Marie Pillars of Beaumont, Texas.

He is also survived by three brothers, Ivre Myles Pillars (Yvonne) of Coco, 
Fla., and Calmadore S. Pillars (Laura) and Carl L. Pillars of Lincoln, Neb.; 
two sisters, Ruth P. Harrison (Thomas) and Clarether P. Molizone of Slidell, 
and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The funeral service was held yesterday at the Starlight Missionary Baptist 
Church, Slidell.
